HFDS or High Frequency Deep Sclerotomy

HFDS  is a minimally invasive and implant-free, ab-interno MIGS procedure that treats mild to moderate open-angle glaucoma.

In the surgical treatment of glaucoma, Oertli’s surgical platforms provide significant added value in microinvasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). The High Frequency Deep Sclerotomy (HFDS) establishes a direct access to the Schlemm’s canal in front of the anterior chamber and further into the sclera, bypassing the drainage resistance of the trabecular meshwork. This ensures a minimal complication rate and good long-term results despite the short duration of the procedure.

HFDS is available on CataRhex 3, Faros and OS 4 Up (upon request).

TRABECTOME

Trabectome is an electrosurgical form of ab-interno trabeculectomy to treat an elevated intraocular pressure (IOP). In the family of micro-incisional glaucoma surgeries (MIGS), Trabectome surgery molecularizes the primary barrier to outflow the trabecular meshwork (TM). Unlike in trabeculectomy, access to the TM and Schlemm’s canal (SC) is achieved through insertion of the Trabectome tip through a 1.6 mm clear-corneal incision and, therefore, the conjunctiva remains undisturbed. There is minimal heat dissipation to adjacent tissues. These factors contribute to the favourable safety profile of the procedure compared to more traditional glaucoma surgeries.
